Samuel and Dorothy Shields fonds. 1942-1977.

This fonds consists of correspondence with friends and politicians; a variety of publications, pamphlets, newsletters, and programs; photographs; poetry manuscripts; miscellaneous newspaper clippings, some regarding the Nova Scotia Centre of the Poetry Society; and a scrapbook of miscellaneous newspaper clippings.

Samuel and Dorothy Shields lived in Bedford, Nova Scotia, during the 1940s and 50s. Samuel Shields owned a barber shop located in Halifax's Roy Building. His wife Dorothy was born in Bermuda and came to live in Nova Scotia after she was married. The couple were active in local organizations, including the Canadian Authors Association and the Nova Scotia Centre of the Poetry Society.
